What are Microgreens?


Microgreens are sometimes confused with sprouts — which are nothing but germinated seeds. Microgreens, however, include a variety of edible immature greens, harvested less than a month after germination, when the plants are up to1 to 2 inches tall. The stem and leaves both are edible.

Microgreens are packed with nutrition.

Radish microgreens are 40 times more nutritious than Radish.

for most of the Microgreens benefits by multifold than the original vegetables. Most of them are rich in Potassium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium and Copper. They are Very high on antioxidants which are anti ageing compounds. They are a rich source of Polyphenols compounds linked to lower Heart disease. These Polyphenols also lower the risk of different types Cancers.

Making them a part of your Diet will ensure strong and robust immunity, good skin and hair and disease free lifestyle.


That said, it is safe to buy Microgreens from a reputed Seller rather than on the shelf purchases from any vegetable Grocery Store. This is because most of the regular available seeds are treated seeds( Thiram or any other pesticide) for higher germination and durability. But Micogreens are always to be Grown from Organic, desi/ heirloom edible Seeds only . So the best and safest way is to Grow them yourself.


Which Vegetable seeds work best?


Salad greens, leafy vegetables, herbs can be grown as microgreens. Seed of vegetables, such as cauliflower, cabbage, mustard, carrot, sunflower radish, beet root are — among the easiest-to-grow varieties of microgreens — in a single grow bag. (You can easily grow different seeds in several grow bags , and mix your microgreens in salads.


When do I harvest?


Depending upon the type of seeds you've selected, your microgreens will be ready to harvest about two to three weeks after planting. Look for the first set of "true leaves" as a sign of readiness.Cut the greens just above the soil line.


To serve, wash the microgreens with water and dry them. You can Harvest and serve them immediately for the freshest flavor, and add to soups, salads, sandwiches or main dishes. Store remaining cut microgreens in a plastic bag in your refrigerator.
